Root Canal
General Dentistry
Our priority is to help you maintain healthy teeth and gums for a lifetime. While regular check-ups and good oral hygiene significantly reduce the risk of dental infections, sometimes more comprehensive treatment, like a root canal, becomes necessary. This procedure is an effective solution to stop the progression of infection and save your tooth from extraction.
What is Root Canal?
A Root canal is a dental procedure that treats the inner parts of a tooth, known as the pulp, which can become infected due to deep decay, repeated dental procedures on the tooth, or a crack or chip in the tooth. This procedure involves removing the infected or inflamed pulp, cleaning and disinfecting the inside of the tooth, and then filling and sealing it. It’s a highly effective way to preserve a tooth that might otherwise needed to be extracted.
How Root Canals Help
Root canal therapy is necessary when the pulp inside your tooth becomes inflamed or infected.
This treatment has several key benefits:
Pain Relief: An infected tooth can be extremely painful. By removing the source of the infection, root canal therapy provides effective pain relief.
Tooth Preservation: This treatment enables you to keep your natural tooth instead of having it extracted, preserving your natural bite and smile.
Prevention of Spread: By cleaning and disinfecting the inside of the tooth, root canal therapy prevents the infection from spreading to other teeth or areas of the mouth.
The Process
Dr. Ash will ensure that your root canal procedure is as comfortable as possible.
During your appointment, Dr. Ash will begin by numbing the area around the tooth to ensure you don’t feel any discomfort during the procedure. He will then remove the infected pulp, clean the inside of the tooth, and fill it with a special material. Once this process is complete, Dr. Ash will seal the tooth and often recommend a crown to protect the tooth and restore its full function.
